Women's Ministry

The Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF) has been active in the Porterville Church for about 50 years. It is a live and vibrant part of the life of First Christian Church. CWF has been a vital part of the mission arm of the church, emphasizing the importance of putting others first. Our mission support is given to the local Women’s Shelter, Kids to Camp, Samaritan’s Purse, Helping Hands, Rescue Mission, Porterville Community Council and our regional mission projects.

The CWF sponsors several fund raisers each year. These involve the whole church and are a significant source of money for the mission projects supported by the women of the church. In addition to the annual Salad Bar Luncheon held in the Spring, two to three times a year, we hold yard sales. Again, the whole church is involved, especially the Men’s Fellowship Group who are vital in the set-up and take-down of the sales.

One of our main areas of service to the community is to be available to host memorial receptions for families in mourning. We do this for anyone who requests it whether they are a member of our congregation or not. We want to be part of the healing provided at bereavement through fellowship and compassion.

Our aim at First Christian Church is to win souls to Christ through love, loyalty, dedication and service to mankind. We most humbly thank God for our many years of service and we pray for his continued blessings and divine guidance.
